The Cybersecurity Awareness Seminar, themed "Trend of Cybersecurity Landscape and Roles of IT Engineers," was successfully held on February 10, 2025, at Pusat Budaya Indonesia, Díli. This event was organized by ANC and the UI-JICA project as part of their initiative to enhance human resources development in the field of cybersecurity. The seminar provided an in-depth discussion on crucial topics such as national cybersecurity laws, emerging IT security trends, and personal data protection. Distinguished speakers included Timor-Leste’s Minister of Transport and Communications, the Minister of Justice, and experts from JICA and idCARE.UI, who shared their insights on the evolving cybersecurity landscape and the vital role of IT engineers in safeguarding digital infrastructure.
The seminar aimed to raise awareness and strengthen cybersecurity practices among professionals and key stakeholders in Timor-Leste. Discussions focused on the increasing cyber threats, regulatory frameworks, and best practices for data protection, emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach between the government, private sector, and academia to develop a robust cybersecurity ecosystem. With digital transformation accelerating across various sectors, the event highlighted the urgency of building skilled cybersecurity professionals and adopting proactive security measures to protect critical information assets.
Following the seminar, a specialized training session on Ethical Hacking Essentials was conducted for government stakeholders and professionals in Timor-Leste. This training aimed to equip participants with foundational knowledge and practical skills in ethical hacking techniques, vulnerability assessment, and threat mitigation strategies. The session emphasized the importance of proactive cybersecurity measures in protecting critical national infrastructure and digital assets. By enhancing the technical capabilities of government personnel, this initiative further supports Timor-Leste’s efforts to strengthen its cybersecurity resilience in an increasingly digital world.
