In a significant stride towards bolstering national data security, the inaugural batch of the Entry Level Data Protection Officer (DPO) training commenced with great enthusiasm from June 17 to 18, 2025, at the serene Patra Lahendong HSE Training Center in Palembang, South Sumatra. This crucial program, a collaborative effort between IDCARE.UI and ILUNI UI, along with the Indonesian Attorney General's Office and Pertamina Group, brought together 48 dedicated participants, 33 from the Attorney General's Office and 15 from Pertamina, ready to dive deep into the intricacies of data protection. The opening ceremony was graced by esteemed figures, including Mr. Ahmad Fitrianto from ILUNI UI, and representatives from PT Pertamina (Persero) and the Attorney General's Office, emphasizing the collective commitment to safeguarding personal data in the digital age.

Throughout the intensive two-day session, participants engaged in a comprehensive curriculum covering the Indonesian Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP No. 22 Year 2022), principles of personal data processing, data protection management, and risk management in data handling. Interactive discussions, case studies, and pre- and post-tests ensured a thorough understanding of the material. Beyond the rigorous training, the batch fostered a strong sense of camaraderie, with a delightful dinner and ice-breaking activities setting a collegial tone. The program concluded with the awarding of certificates, marking the participants as newly equipped guardians of data privacy.

The Palembang batch, a testament to the synergistic partnership between IDCARE.UI, ILUNI UI, and other key stakeholders, successfully laid a robust foundation for future data protection initiatives, highlighting the urgent need for qualified DPO's in both public and private sectors. This initial success sets an inspiring precedent for the subsequent training programs, promising a more secure digital landscape for Indonesia.
