The Indonesian independent cybersecurity community, CSIRT.ID, has once again fostered the nation’s top cybersecurity talents through its annual national hacking competition, Cyber Jawara. According to ANTARA News, the competition serves as a crucial platform for cybersecurity enthusiasts to build their portfolios and enhance their skills. This year marked the 12th edition of the event, featuring three categories: CSIRT, student, and general. These categories were strategically designed to cultivate cybersecurity expertise from an early stage, preparing individuals and teams to handle future cyber threats effectively.

Hundreds of teams from across Indonesia participated in the online qualification rounds, with the top 45 advancing to the finals at the University of Indonesia. In the general category, students from IPB, UI, and ITB secured the top positions, while high school and vocational school students excelled in the student category. Meanwhile, in the CSIRT category, teams from ITS, private institutions, and government ministries led the competition. Each finalist team competed under distinct and creative names, reflecting their identities in the cyber domain.

CSIRT.ID Chairman Rudi Lumanto emphasized that Cyber Jawara is more than just a competition; it is a platform for learning and collaboration among individuals and institutions in the cybersecurity field. Similarly, Professor Arief Udhiarto from the University of Indonesia expressed pride in his institution’s involvement, highlighting their shared commitment to developing highly skilled cybersecurity professionals. The final stage of the event concluded with the announcement of the top three winners in each category, reinforcing Cyber Jawara’s role in strengthening Indonesia’s cybersecurity talent pool.
